Of course, there are many
factors to consider (read below) and one
solution doesn't
fit all.
The resulting global
fit indices X2 = 113.23, p < 0.0005, chi - square - degrees of freedom (d. f.) ratio = 2.45, RMSEA = 0.102, CFI = 0.72, NFI = 0.68, GFI = 0.59, AGFI = 0.57 showed that the one
factor solution proposed by the author should be rejected.
Results show that the
fit of the model deteriorated as compared to the two -
factor solution; (χ2 [df = 26, n = 1,647] = 154.54, CFI =.939, RMSEA =.055).
Generally, both
solutions showed adequate
fit to the data, with all
fit indices within acceptability criteria and significant
factor loadings, all in their intended
factor with no exceptions.
First, confirmatory
factor analyses (CFAs) were conducted in MPlus, to test the model
fit of the
factor solutions indicated in Study 3, using polychoric correlation matrices, the WLSMV estimation method, and the oblique (geomin)
factor rotation.
However, an inspection of the scree plot indicated that a three -
factor solution would provide a best
fit for the data, as inflexions justified the removal of components 4, 5, 6, and 7; retained
factors are presented in Table 1.
The five -
factor solution of the SDQ (including emotional, conduct, hyperactivity - inattention, peer relationship, and prosocial) provided a satisfactory
fit to the data, and was invariant across sex, age, race / ethnicity and income subgroups.
Confirmatory
factor analyses confirmed the hypothesized two -
factor solution of the DAPCS, with a 16 items» version better
fitting the data, for paternal as well as for maternal ratings.
CFA revealed good model
fit for this two -
factor solution.
