award options:
Fixed Mileage and Market Fare.
Without a
fixed value to each mile the way we know how many miles a flight will cost is by looking up the
award chart for the
mileage program you have miles with.
Etihad does not have a
fixed award chart for its own flights, but you can check the GuestSeat
Mileage Calculator to see the lowest price of a specific route.
Airlines using
mileage - based programs, on the other hand, limit
award seat available and often only offer them at a
fixed price: i.e., 25,000 miles for a domestic trip.
Is the traditional airline loyalty reward chart — showing
fixed mileage costs for various
award trips — becoming a thing of the past?
They're pushing up
mileage earning but they're capping that earning for the most expensive tickets, while they're pushing up the cost of
awards too (not just through the
award chart, err elimination of
award charts, but elimination of stopovers and refusal to
fix the broken pricing engine).
