The game already features a number of multiplayer competitive and cooperative game modes, among them a horde - style «Survival» mode, and a tongue - in - cheek capture - the -
flag mode called «Miner Mayhem».

The best
mode is
called the siege
mode, here you can attack the castle being defended in order to raise the
flag in the courtyard.
Outside of the career you can embark on any race you fancy, or you can head online to make use of the standard multiplayer
modes, plus a couple of bonuses in the form of Capture the
Flag and a cool take on King of the Hill
called King's Rush where you attempt to avoid getting hit.
For those that enjoy Capture the
Flag, there is a new
mode called Gridiron that offers some great action where strategy and teamwork play a key role to winning.
And these are no mere
flags, which is why the
modes aren't technically
called «capture - the -
flag».
If you are familiar with the multiplayer component in the
Call of Duty series, then you will already know the classic recurring standard
modes such as Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed and Free - for - all, alongside eSports favourites such as Search and Destroy, Capture the
Flag and Hardpoint which all feel incredibly different to one another in their approach and potential play styles.
There's a free - for - all capture the grail
mode, a team capture the
flag, team control points in domination, team deathmatch, last man standing, soccer, king of the hill, a base destruction game
called Crystal Rush, and my personal favorite: Juggernaut.
You'll get some Capture the
Flag scenarios and some King of the Hill scenarios, plus some
modes similar to
Call of Duty: World at War's zombie killing multiplayer
modes insomuch as you and your buddies bunker down and take out wave after wave of incoming enemies, purchasing weapons and ammo as needed.
The multiplayer is as you would expect it for a
Call OF Duty game, I know a lot of you will purchase the game only to play multiplayer, personally I'm not very good at it but still like to take part, I will always be a «runner up» when playing online multiplayer but like to give it a shot, it comes with all of the usual standard game
modes; Team Deathmatch, Domination, Search and Destroy, Free For All, Capture the
flag etc and also has a multiplayer
mode known as war which doesn't really rank you on kills or deaths, it's an objective based game
mode in which you are usually attacking or defending and have 3 separate objectives to complete in order to win whether it be building a bridge or escorting a tank, I found this the most enjoyable out of the standard multiplayer list.
The only thing I could find that I was unhappy about was the hardcore matchmaking list, you only have; Team Deathmatch, Search and Destroy, Domination and Free For All, I was hoping to have Capture The
Flag and Kill Confirmed in this list as they were my favourite hardcore
modes to play, it's not going to be a deal breaker for me but I was a little disappointed to see they weren't available in hardcore
mode, you also have a «featured» tab which offers a
mode called Carentan 24/7 although without purchasing the season pass you can not play this
mode, sadly I don't have the season pass so can't comment on this
mode, I was a little disappointed to see paid for content pretty much straight after release, it would probably have been better to add it a little later.
A
mode called Rainmaker is Splatoon's version of capture the
flag.
In the classic multiplayer
mode, players can enjoy bouts of Team Deathmatch, Capture The
Flag, Headhunter, a
mode similar to
Call of Duty's «Kill Confirmed,» or Conquest, which tasks teams to conquer nodes for points.
I mostly played a game
mode called «Plunderball» which is a capture the
flag based match type.
Online play is the best yet for any Wii game, supporting all the usual FPS game
modes - Deathmatch, team Deathmatch, Capture the
flag (ASE in this case) and also supports the Pdp Headbanger Headset (introduced with the Wii version of
Call of Duty: Black Ops) for voicechat, instead of the wiispeak which has had support dropped by Nintendo.
I've been playing
Call of Duty with the same group of friends for years, and sometimes we play objective
modes like Capture the
Flag and Search and Destroy a little too seriously.
