Flamini left out the squad completely amidst rumours he is now surplus to requirements, it is blatantly obvious that the Gunners are short
in the
defensive midfield area.

I think Coquelin has covered our needs for a

I suppose you could say that the manager's failure to sign another defender and a
defensive midfielder in the summer left us short of options, but you would still expect better from players like
Flamini, Mertesacker, Welbeck, Gibbs, Chamberlain and of course Alexis Sanchez.
This would have been an ideal game to use hayden

midfield with
flamini, now we have less
defensive cover, because wilshere is not the solution

Flamini will go next season and we will buy a player that plays
in defensive midfield and defense.

in 20 games
in his opening season, and when he left after 4 seasons at the end of his contract, it was a bitter blow as he had become the main man
in defensive midfield.
Although Matthieu
Flamini and Mikel Arteta have both returned from injury, they are both getting long
in the teeth and are unlikely to be able to play all season, and most Arsenal fans are still clamouring for a younger stronger
defensive midfielder to be able to step
in if (god forbid) anthing untoward happens to Francis Coquelin.
Flamini filled
in as our make shift left back during the champions league where we made it to the final and I am sure with his experience he would be a great option,
defensive midfielders read the game well and his distrubution is better than MERT.
It sounds like Wenger is ready to throw the young Spaniard
in at the deep end, but he does have more
defensive options
in Mathieu
Flamini and Francis Coquelin, the two French
midfielders who have both played their on occasion.

Flamini was
in before half - time and it is a thankless task.
