Look for gear
with a good layer of insulation and a water - repellent exterior
fabric such as fleece,
flannel, or fiberfill.
This beautifully soft, but hard wearing brushed
flannel fabric is incredibly chic,
with understated style.
It would be better if the microfiber was lined
with an outer layer of
fabric like
flannel, which would help the child feel wet, and wouldn't get so dirty.
Because
flannel is probably going to shrink, you may want to buy a little extra
fabric to maintain the planned size rather than work
with what is left after you preshrink the
fabric.
You can use a towel or
flannel blanket in a pinch, or sew your own, even out of used
fabric,
with very minimal skills.
We had much more luck
with 1.25 yd of
flannel (in 45 ″ wide
fabric, it's a square) and Dr. Harvey Karp's technique.

I like to work
with cotton
fabrics (velour, fleece and
flannel).
· Soak a 12 inch square cloth (cotton or wool

with castor oil, and prepare either a hot water or bottle heating pad.
Flannels are pretty much versatile pieces that well mix
with different
fabrics and prints, so it gives you a wide range of choices.
