Then, flicking through Twitter earlier today, I

flash fiction website with a free online competition for
stories of 99 words or less.

I would also say
flash fiction is related to poetry, but only when it
comes to the economic use of the most effective words and by creating impressions in the mind of the reader, forcing the reader to «sense» the

I had a few things
come out, but I'd really like to use most of this space to promote the
stories in Mixed Up: Cocktail Recipes (and
Flash Fiction) for the Discerning Drinker (and Reader).
I have written many
stories that started out as
flash fiction pieces, but I never seen to be able to
come up with my own prompts.
But in December a short
story came to me out of nowhere (
flash fiction, literally) and I wrote it in one week's time.
We'll reveal Adele's
flash fiction story to you shortly, but in the meantime, let's
come up with more fun in the form of photo captions.
She is a member of Kelley Armstrong's writing forums, successfully completed NaNoWriMo 2010, and will have four

But, if it helps, when I'm writing such short
flash fiction, my first draft usually
comes in at twice the prescribed length, then it's just a matter of distilling the
story and tightening the prose.

A reader
comes to a blog with a set of expectations in mind, expectations that they have to overcome when they're dealing with a serialized
fiction blog (not so with short
stories, or
flash fiction — for these, blogs are extremely well suited as a presentation form).
