Hi Kris, I'd be hesitant to use
a flax egg because there are so few ingredients, but I haven't tried it myself.
The only change I made was I used
flax egg because I'm vegan... worked perfectly.

Kathryn, I haven't used
flax much as an
egg replacer
because I have had success with Ener - G... but maybe it would be even better with the
flax.
Since
flax contains polysaccharides, this theoretically won't work the same way
egg whites will
because unlike
egg whites, polysaccharides are really good at holding onto water.
Also, without seeing the recipe it's difficult to tell if this will work with
flax gel
because it depends on what the
egg is being used for.
Made these using a
flax egg instead of an
egg because we have
egg allergies.
Chocolate cake - y recipes have mixed results, I would recommend only using one portion
flax -
egg in those,
because the taste can be overpowering.
I'm going to add the
flax eggs to the recipe, only
because I suspect that if the quinoa is too wet, that may prevent the peanut butter and dates from doing their job.
I think mine was like that
because I used a
flax egg since I ran out of chicken
eggs.
I added some chopped walnuts to the
egg - banana batter and chia seeds (
because I did not have
flax around) and they held together great.
I substituted the butter for coconut oil, used a
flax egg, and decreased the water by half (

egg inStead of a
flax egg.
We use
flax because it means we can lick the bowl and spoon without raw -
egg worries.
(Note: if using coconut flour, add more
flax eggs and / or olive oil
because coconut flour absorbs a ton of liquid!

flax eggs are great but only when they are used to replace 1 - 2
eggs... sadly... As for the tofu replacement, I am hesitant to give any replacements
because it took so many trials to perfect this cake.
I would not recommend using a
flax egg for a cake
because flaxseed meal does not do a whole lot for leavening a recipe.
They happen to be vegan chocolate pumpkin muffins,
because I am avoiding all dairy and it's just so easy to sub in ground
flax (FULL of omega - 3s, antioxidants, and fiber) instead of
eggs.
Because they are so similar, I'll use ground chia or
flax «
eggs» interchangeably in recipes, depending on whichever is most convenient in my pantry.

because I can eat
eggs.
I figured this was
because there is no binding agent in the recipe, so I added a
flax egg which helped a bit, but trying to form the mixture into patties was completely hopeless.
You've probably heard of
flax eggs, but I find chia
eggs way easier to make
because there's no need to grind the seeds up first.
I think that the vegan swaps may make for a denser and moister cake than the original (though I must admit I have not tried Sara's original recipe), probably
because of the use of
flax eggs and maple syrup.
I like to use one
flax egg and one puréed ripe banana
because the sweetness of the banana complements the tahini flavor without overpowering it.
So I made these with a cup each of almond flour and
flax meal
because I only had a cup of almond flour left, and did the method of whipping the

flax egg, this is not do - able on AIP.
If you have any thyroid issues, it is best to use chia seeds as your
egg substitute
because flax is a slightly goitrogenic food.
