flax eggs so you could try that out!
I haven't ever used egg replacer or

I made them vegan by substituting the
eggs for
flax eggs and I didn't have any applesauce handy
so I mashed a banana and that worked great!
I was short an
egg so used
flax / water... and also used coconut oil..
So here's what I did: I made it using a
flax egg (1Tbsp ground
flax + 2Tbsp squeezed lemon juice), 1 1/2 tsp gelatin powder + 1 Tbsp coconut cream.
Tonight I was all out of
flax so I used
eggs instead, it definitely turned out way firmer but I still prefer it with
flax.
however, on this particular day, i did not have any,
so went with my go - to substitute — the
flax egg.
To be honest my experience with
flax eggs is very limited
so I couldn't say for sure but I think that it would likely turn out ok.
So I wouldn't worry about going vegan — subbing ground
flax for
eggs here.
Since I already had
so much
flax meal (sub for the
eggs) in my version, I decided to add almond flour...
Whisk ground
flax with water in a small bowl and set in refrigerator
so flax «
eggs» have time to thicken.
In my stand mixer, paddle attached, I added my prepared
flax egg (mix the
flax and water and let that absorb for 4 minutes or
so).
If a recipe calls for more than three
eggs, I'm not
so sure how well the
flax eggs will work).
Replacing / substitutions that worked for others:
EGGs: No
Eggs by Orgran Flours: Chickpea, Brown Rice, Quinoa (not proven yet) Xanthum Gum: 2 tsp ground
Flax Seed Honey: Use Agave Nectar but keep in mind it may be sweeter than honey
so experiment!
Coconut flour, almond flour and other grain - free / nut flours do not act the same as traditional wheat flour - they do not contain gluten,
so they need binders like
eggs or
flax seed to make successful batters.

flax eggs as the recipe suggested I used my typical cornstarch
eggs (2 tbsp cornstarch to 3 tbsp water) and I didn't have any baking powder
so I used.5 teaspoon baking soda instead.

Flax Egg: 1 Tbsp Flaxseed Meal + 3 Tbsp Water (this recipe needs 2
eggs,
so double that) For this recipe, you can mix the flaxseed meal right in with the yeast after it's activated.
So I improvised and used the two
eggs plus two «
flax eggs» (2 T ground
flax seed with 1/2 cup water blended into a thick gel.)
Flax seed
egg is ok, but it has no special flavor like the coconut or banana would,
so I'd say... why bother?
It's
so easy today to purchase any premade gluten - free waffle mix and «veganize» it by substituting the
eggs for
flax or chia
eggs, for instance.
Also, I didn't have chia or
flax seeds
so I used Bob's red mill
egg replacer and a little
flax oil.
I am out of butter,
eggs, and milk,
so I made it with avocado oil, ground
flax «
egg,» and water mixed with chia seeds.
I chose to use two
eggs to help with texture since I was already eliminating
so much oil (if you are vegan, feel free to substitute
flax eggs in this recipe!).
These cookies aren't particularly fluffy,
so the
flax eggs won't have any real effect on how much they would rise.
My hubby and kids aren't big banana fans and can suspect even the slightest bit,
so I think I'll try 1 banana with the
flax seed
eggs and see how that goes.

Thanks Soumya I think that the recipe would need entirely reworking in order to omit the
egg; you could try replacing it with a «
flax egg» though I have never tried this myself
so couldn't tell you how effective it is.
I substituted the butter for coconut oil, used a
flax egg, and decreased the water by half (because I've had trouble with recipes being too runny with those two substitutions,
so I just add enough to get the right consistency in the batter.)
So I substituted the
egg for a combo of ground
flax seed and water, and made my own buttermilk by adding a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to almond milk.
This pizza comes out wonderful when real
eggs are used, not
so much with
flax eggs.
I find that peanut butter produces a slightly drier result for some reason,
so you might want to try adding an extra
flax or chia
egg if you prefer that.
My son is allergic to
eggs,
so we substitute
flax seed «
eggs» in many of Elana's recipes with success.
