Here is a fascinating data point:
flaxseed does not only suppress estradiol production but it also nudges estradiol metabolism into a positive direction by generating a higher ratio of the protective metabolite 2 - hydroxy - estrone versus the more harmful 16 - hydroxy - estrone.
A final comment regarding flaxseed oil — I understand the article nominally focuses on oils used in the process of cooking food, and
flaxseed does not do well under heat.
However, the most recent research has shown that consuming flaxseed doesn't increase cancer risk.
Unlike sunflower seeds or pepitas, flaxseed doesn't make for the best eating straight outta the bag, since we can't properly digest it whole.
According to American Institute for Cancer Research: «The latest research shows that consuming
flaxseed does not increase risk for breast cancer.
However,
the flaxseeds do contribute to the «glue» so I'd replace them with either chia or basil seeds as these have very similar properties.

However, in other scientific studies, people who ate
flaxseeds did not have better bone densities than people who didn't eat flaxseeds.
Soy and
flaxseeds do have estrogenic - like compounds in them, called phytoestrogens.
They do, but I think berry seeds are more likely to «pass through» the way that whole
flaxseeds do than be absorbed by the human body.
Ground
flaxseeds do double duty as both an egg replacer and a nutty flavor enhancer in these waffles.

do have lots of chia seeds as they are a staple in my diet.
I ground up 1 tbsp of chia seeds in my spice grinder instead of
flaxseed meal (I don't use flax).
I used a chai egg as I didn't have
flaxseed and it turned out okay.
And while we
do prefer the results with it, you can sub it with twice the amount of
flaxseed meal (so 4tsp)- not a huge deal here.
Top with
flaxseed meal after it's
done baking and let cool slightly before serving.
I live in Brazil and I don't think we have
flaxseed meal down here.
I added 1 more tablespoon of honey (2 tbsp total), I left out the
flaxseed (I didn't have any) and I used only 1 1/2 cups of coconut flour and added a 1/2 cup of tapioca flour.
The milled
flaxseed blends right into the banana bread so you don't get grittiness that you may have if you swapped whole wheat flour for all purpose flour in recipes before.
I don't use
flaxseed; it's an endocrine disruptor but I had hemp seed powder so I used that.

I
did not have

Seems like maybe a few extra tablespoons sorghum + a couple of teaspoons

Flaxseed meal, instead of the coconut flour (just didn't have it on hand) and lined loaf pan with nonstick foil.
I'd like to give this a go though, looks tasty and I

flaxseeds.
Since this amount of flax can cause digestive upset for many who don't regularly consume lots of
flaxseed (and some are concerned regarding studies of high flax consumption), I reduced the amount to a more standard serving size.
If you can
do a little veggie bullion (maybe 1/2 tsp or half a cube) and a little extra
flaxseed meal, the taste / texture would probably be similar... or a nice dry nut flour of some sort would work well too:) If veggie bouillon is a no - go, then I would think omitting it and adding some extra spices would be great too!
