I think Mark has fairly well explain my own views about the enemy of
the fleshly mind and the enemy of the devil.

In working through my experience I have come to realize that Christianity is trying to achieve the same thing which eastern meditation practices are trying to achieve — the purifying / purging / cleansing / emptying of our
minds of selfish,
fleshly thoughts to increase spirituality, decrease self - centeredness, transcend self and thereby achieve behaviour modification.
That includes you, who were once alienated, enemies in your own
minds to God's purposes, immersed in evil actions; but now you are bodily reconciled in his
fleshly body which has tasted death.
If we set our
mind on things of the flesh, even if we are setting our
mind on not doing things of the flesh, we will face the constant struggle of falling into
fleshly things, and will frequently stumble.
This is essentially what Paul is saying in Romans 8:5 - 7 when he talks about the
mind set on
fleshly things.
He goes on to explain that when believers live according to the flesh, we are carnally (or
fleshly)
minded, which leads to death.
