It is a land of odd creatures: giant anteaters, tapirs, maned wolves, the llama - like guanaco,
flightless rheas as tall as I am, and as many as 10 species of armadillo.
With few trees to obstruct views, it is one of the best places in the country to watch tapir (Tapirus terrestris), giant anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactyla), maned wolf (Chrysocyon brachyurus), and, of course, the greater

Mononychus measured up to a metre from its beak to the tip of its tail, but it resembled none of today's large
flightless birds — ostriches,
rheas, emus, cassowaries and kiwis.
