partners will require you to pay significant fuel surcharges.
I don't * think * you can use Iberia Avios to to book
flights on Aer Lingus metal
since Aer Lingus is not a member of OneWorld, and Iberia and Aer Lingus are not

Granted these benefits are only available
on United
flights, not
partners, but the lounge access that comes with the card is actually better than the one from the Star Alliance Gold level,
since you can bring up to two people with you to any United Club lounge regardless which airline you fly.
You should be able to lower the fees by booking
flights on American Airlines, but keep in mind that the milage requirement will go up
since Iberia charges more miles for certain
partners and you can't book one - way awards
on American Airlines with Iberia.
By
partner awards, I mean
flights on other Star Alliance airlines that you can use your United mile for
since they're in the same alliance.
My
partner and I once took a hairy 27 - hour
flight to South America (it was stupidly cheap and
since we were
on a tight budget, we decided to take it despite the ridiculous
flight time.)
(I didn't do too much searching,
since I was
on a mission to book my specific
flight, but presumably, you'd have more luck searching all Avios award availability, through more of the
partners — e.g. Aer Lingus, BA, and Iberia.)
The
flights I was looking for were shown
on united.com (not
on the BA award search, as mentioned in the previous post,
since it's only for BA and not
partners), but in my exploring, I did discover the Avios.com site that would seem to have the ability to search all Avios award availability.
This is not surprising
since the AAdvantage award chart allows you to mix and match
partners, so it is more difficult to target
flights on Alaska and raise their costs while leaving other
partners untouched.
Since I'm just focusing
on booking SkyTeam Alliance
flights with Korean Air right now, below are the award charts for bookings made
on Star Alliance
Partners.
For award
flights on partners this dynamic pricing wasn't a huge headache
since partner awards are subject to the lowest tier of the dynamic pricing, so all you had to know is what the lowest redemption rate is for a route and that would tell you the mileage requirement for a
partner award.
But again
since you've decided to potentially go with alliance
partners like United, you'd be able to search for award
flights with United that you'll use Singapore Airlines miles
on.
We have also listed applicable airline alliances
since frequent flier programs are often used to book
flights on partners.
You'll have to call American Airlines to book your
flight,
since you can't search for the above
partners on American's website.
Since United first class levels
on partner airlines are punitive, you will do better by redeeming you're your miles
on business class or first class
flight on United whenever possible.
Since we have more than 1,200
partners, you might be able to find a cheaper
flight on a different carrier.
Air Canada's
flights depart from the «A» side of SFO's international terminal, which seemed odd
since it is a Star Alliance and code sharing
partner with United, which is
on the «G» side.
Since British Airways always prices
partner flights at just one rate, regardless of demand, we found
flights for 9,000 Avios roundtrip
on American Eagle.
Since United went to separate charts for its own
flights and

In the past I've transferred to Aeroplan, but
since they devalued their award chart and started imposing surcharges
on most
partner flights, I probably won't be transferring to them again, especially when those
flights can be booked more cheaply with United miles earned from Ultimate Rewards.
