Here's a side - by - side of the practice run
on foam core board, and the final result on a towel.
A
painted foam core board is a much better color reference than those tiny color strips you get from the paint store.
I chose the color the same way I did in my kitchen, by painting
large foam core boards and holding it up in the space.
Using a piece of
foam core board as the foundation and red and charcoal grey yarn, I cross-stitched the lyrics from my favorite Christmas carol, Joy to the World.
Then I would make a simple cornice board by
covering foam core board with batting and fabric in the same combination of colors.
The background in this photo is just a plain piece
of foam core board that I painted using Hancock Grey, by Benjamin Moore.
The idea is to take pictures you like from magazines or that you print off the web and put them in a collage on a poster board or
foam core board.
But before painting on the towels, I first experimented on
foam core board that was on hand for photo shoots.
