I'd say at this point we can see that it was Pikmin 2 that was a departure from the rest of the series by taking out the time limit and thus being more heavily
focused on treasure hunting.

In general I guess I loved the exploration and
treasure hunting aspects of Pikmin 1 the most, so them

focus on what's happening outside of your estate, as you build relationships with locals,
hunt for
treasure, battle against an overbearing retail store chain, and even try to find love.
