My favorite fact to take back to my team is that Kobo says they've fixed
font obfuscation on their readers, so we don't have to remove font encryption on InDesign - generated books for them anymore -LRB-... which we usually learned about when our FXL books reflowed because of missing fonts, to disastrous results; see above).
If I'm not mistaken, font embedding issues in ID - spawned ebooks have more to do with ID's
font obfuscation algorithm than the font - rendering support in the devices or apps (including Kindle desktop apps).
font obfuscation isn't implemented everywhere, which can be a problem, especially for fixed - layout.
This option is set to false by default as KF8 and Readium do not currently support
font obfuscation.
Use
Font Obfuscation: For InDesign CC users there is a choice whether to «mangle» the fonts used with live text so they are no use outside the EPUB package.
