When they were younger, I whipped up homemade butter frosting and purchased nontoxic

I'm not big on themed
foods,
so I did a play on
colors instead.
Since school lunches are kind of a different beast altogether, I
color - coded all those standard items in green and keep them organized down the right hand side by
food group,
so it's easier to be sure the kids have a balanced lunchbox.
We didn't mean for these to look like «Ogre» cakes, but his friend was also sensitive to red
food coloring,
so we decided on a green marbled cupcake.

My grandma used to make them in the summer to enjoy year around ~ My Mom made just a few pints of them in the summer ~ she used to use red and green
food coloring, (even number of pints in each
color), along with the red & green cherries in the pints,
so as to dress up the pickle plate for Christmas dinner and through out the Holiday season!

I added just 1 drop of

so I sprinkled with big sugar sprinkles.
Also, not all
food coloring is vegan,

So I made some homemade strawberry syrup, just without the artificial
food coloring, artificial flavorings, high fructose corn syrup and refined sugar!
You're probably laughing at this because my pictures are

So this year I decided to celebrate in my own simple healthy way: with some red wine and paleo king cake topped with natural
food coloring coconut sprinkles.
So I pulled out my trusty airbrush and hit them with a shot of yellow and gold

Im not crazy about store - bought frosting, nor do I like the idea of adding

so these were perfect.
I was able to create a beautiful shade of robin egg blue by mixing a few drops of aqua, turquoise, and green
food coloring and the brown speckles are simple to do but
