When starting with solids, there are no strict
rules to follow and you can give both handmade
food and jarred
food or you can start with a
combination of both types.
For that reason, under the proposed
rules, school snack
foods had to fall into one of two categories: they either had to be a fruit, vegetable, dairy product, protein
food, «whole - grain rich» grain product, or a «
combination food» that contains at least 1⁄4 cup of fruit or vegetable; OR they had to contain 10 % of the Daily Value (DV) of naturally occurring calcium, potassium, vitamin D, or fiber.
These
rules impose sensible limits on fat, calories and sodium, while requiring that school snacks be fruits, vegetables, whole - grain or dairy products, or a
combination of those
foods.

rule somewhat on Page 52 of
Food Combining Made Easy: «Although green vegetables form the ideal
combination with nuts, acid fruits form a fair
combination with these
foods and may be taken with them.»
While avocado with fruits is generally fine according to
food combining
rules, people struggling with Candida and diabetes should still steer clear from this
combination.
