Pets of the Homeless has hundreds of volunteer pet
food donation site members who support our objective of collecting pet food and pet supplies.

Assistance will include on -
site visits to determine
food waste generation baselines; strategies for reducing
food waste;
siting for
food waste capture systems; training in reduction strategies; and an exploration of local options for composting, biodigesting,
donation of edible
food, or commercial companies that offer organic waste diversion services.
Some local
food banks or community pantry
sites receive diaper
donations and distribute them to families in need.

In addition to delivering
donations of
food, water and pet supplies and setting up an evacuation
site, our team was stationed at the Savannah Civic center and placed in charge of evacuating owned pets and transporting them to the safe zone.
The majority of distributed pet
food is collected by the
donation sites and volunteers, and is delivered to
food banks, soup kitchens, homeless shelters and sometimes to the streets where the homeless congregate.
Repeat Boutique is now offering to be a drop off
site for
donations of dog and cat
food, toys, litter, treats and blankets for Adopt - A-Pet.

food and supplies to their clients.
I've read some snarky blog
sites that wonder whether this is really a marketing ploy, but it seems to me that if I were of necessity a
food bank user, I would much rather give my children a can of vegetarian Nourish, with real vegetables and grains, than a can of spaghetti that's all carbohydrates, which is what you often see in
donation bins.
