Not because my family didn't like
food from a
jar, but we didn't have peanut - butter.

did make a few modifications to suit the amount of time I had and what I had on hand (I used
jarred roasted red peppers instead of roasting my own (there were about 3 large peppers in the
jar), I toasted the walnuts lightly in a dry skillet before putting them in the
food processor, I used honey instead of pomegranate molasses because I couldn't find the latter, and I used 2 tbsp dried parsley instead of 1/4 cup fresh).
I didn't want it taking up space in the fridge (yesterday was yogurt - making day and salad
jarring day), so I dumped both cans into the
food processor.
i ground up shredded coconut in the
food processor forever, it didn't get quite as smooth as a
jar of purchased coconut butter but delicious nonetheless, i threw in maybe 10 strawberries and really resisted the urge to put too much stevia in — maybe just 4 drops of this vanilla stevia i have.
although it seems that anyone can place a number on their Manuka Honey
jar and / or call it active (As I understand it UMF doesn't even like the name «Active» anymore because they don't want words that imply Therapeutic claims on
food labels)
If people don't sanitize their
food processor properly, they could be introducing bacteria or excess moisture to the homemade version, and that would cause it to spoil much more quickly than a bottle that is manufactured and
jarred in a properly sanitized environment.
Those commercial baby
food companies don't
do anything particularly magical with the
food they pack into tiny
jars.
