At this week's Rework Deep Learning Summit in Boston, Google research scientist Kevin Murphy unveiled a project that uses sophisticated deep learning algorithms to analyze a still

food, and estimate how many calories are
on the plate.
I find that taking a
photo on a big, white plate can mean the
food gets a bit lost and doesn't look as abundant and delicious.
At that time I took all my
photos in my student kitchen in such yellow light and the
food looked pretty inedible, so I started working
on my photography skills and learnt a lot along the way.
Looking back
on that
photo and the short text that came with it, I definitely feel that we have learned a whole bit about
food photography, recipe writing and blogging during these years.
I remember how difficult it was in the beginning; making
food look good
on photos, learning ingredient names in English, just writing a text like...
