pasta, that there is a distinct flavor of toasted sesame oil, and that the dish has
vegetables in it (
for those of us trying to sneak them in wherever we can!).

for mayonnaise in tuna or chicken salad sandwiches ~ baking rather than frying crab wontons ~ puréeing white beans as a base

Homemade
vegetable broth is great
for all your soups, but it's also a great cooking liquid

For myself I'd buy new glass mixing bowls, and a
vegetable pasta!
While I am still partial to
vegetables with a bit of bite, eaten straight from the colander (broccoli is particularly good
for that I find), it is so true that the long and slow cooking brings out so much more flavour — it wasn't until I tried a dish called
pasta con le mappe (essentially
pasta tossed with panfried cauliflower) that I realised how sweet cauliflower can be.
It can be used in much the same way as you would use extra virgin olive oil — in salad dressings, on
vegetables,
pasta, makes a beautiful mayonnaise, as a dipping sauce, with a vinaigrett or as a superior replacement
for flax seed oil.
I use it in
pasta sauce,
vegetable soup and general sautés, but it can be served by itself with some olive oil and garlic
for an easy side dish, or use it in squash casserole or dressing.
Most restaurants can make vegetarian modifications to menu items by substituting meatless sauces or nonmeat items, such as tofu and beans
for meat, and adding
vegetables or
pasta in place of meat.
As another option, I also love to use shredded cabbage, or steamed
vegetables as base
for pasta sauce, without needing to buy anything exotic.

pasta sauces.
Suddenly
vegetable pasta salad combinations were just swirling around in my head and I knew exactly what we were having
for dinner.
The plan was
for me to make grilled chicken and serve it with a large side of this Roasted
Vegetable Pasta Salad.
Add the pickled
vegetable to salads, toss them into a pesto
pasta salad, or chop them up with thinly sliced cucumbers
for an easy side dish.
I think puttanesca sauces are best paired with regular
pasta or and grilled fish, and spaghetti squash with more traditional ingredients
for the
vegetable.
For a
pasta dish that's as delicious as it is easy to prepare, this penne with pesto and spring
vegetables is the perfect thing.
