Ensuring sustainable funding
for access to justice initiatives is an ongoing challenge.
How do we as a society decide who is responsible to pay
for access to justice initiatives and to what extent?

The ABA has created a «Resource Center
for Access to Justice Initiatives.»
The most comprehensive and viable options I still think are outlined in the recent «Middle Income Access to Justice» book, which takes tackles the problem of middle class political apathy
for access to justice initiatives head on.
Not exact matches
The fear is that digital
access to justice tools will be seen as a cost effective «upgrade»
to traditional
access to justice initiatives, and investment that in the new technology could come at too high a price
for people without the skills or equipment needed
to navigate online tools.

DLA Piper was the standout firm in the CSR / diversity
initiative of the year category
for its
Access to Justice project, which seeks
to tackle the huge cuts
to legal aid in the UK by offering pro bono legal support and advice
to marginalised and disadvantaged individuals in communities around the country.
Allocations include: nearly $ 4.8 million in additional annual funding
for legal aid, with a focus on indigenous and family law services; $ 3.8 million per year
to fund expansion of Parents Legal Centres; $ 5 million more per year
for sheriff services and court staff
to help reduce delays in the court system; and an additional $ 3.3 million annually
for government
initiatives related
to family dispute resolution services and increasing digital
access to justice services.
What's especially noteworthy about Free the Law, though, and what distinguishes it from other preservation
initiatives, is that it provides
for the preservation of historical legal materials in connection with free, public
access to them, on the conviction that
access to legal information promotes
access to justice.
This documentation is not always readily available
for the kinds of issues most commonly dealt with in
access to justice initiatives, as written judgements are often not published
for routine matters.
Alternatives that have been used successfully in other schools or otherwise proposed include a certain number of seats of lower tuition
for those experiencing financial hardships, public - private partnerships
for projects and
initiatives in the areas of legal technology and artificial intelligence
to provide salaries while in law school, and a tuition forgiveness program
for those who enroll in post-graduate
access to justice programs.
Law reform commissions as well as self - standing
initiatives such as the National Action Committee on
Access to Justice in Civil and Family Matters have made this sort of rethinking a priority
for moving forward.
That these resources, sustained by law societies
for lawyer use, have been made available
to the public is perhaps the most meaningful and least acknowledged
access -
to -
justice initiative there is.
The LCO's Framework
for the Law as It Affects Persons with Disabilities, created in conjunction with the LCO Report on Disabilities, is specifically intended
to assist those that create, review and implement laws, policies and
initiatives in addressing barriers
to access to justice experienced by persons with disabilities.

If there is growing weariness, I expect some of that is generated by those on the frontlines who continue
to slog forward while waiting
for those in governments and courts
to finish «exploring

for maximizing

to serve the public by providing an accessible, fair, efficient and innovative forum
for justice also include several notable
initiatives with direct public impact: In addition

to improve meaningful

for Using a Support Person in Provincial Court.
