SDHS is so committed to finding
homes for animals with special needs that adoption fees are often waived or sponsored and, as with all pets, the organization serves as a valuable resource for post-adoption training and education.
These may be animals that have been with us for longer than others or
for animals with some special needs that may be deterring adopters.
Mojo's Hope, a local rescue group
for animals with special needs, wants the city to allow residents to trap feral cats, neuter them, then release them back into the environment.
The work in this room, the work in volunteer foster homes, the behavior evaluations and medical care
for animals with special needs — all this vital work — is made possible by skilled employees, dedicated volunteers and generous donations.
As well as caring
for animals with special needs, disabilities, and serious injuries, they have educational programs for adults and children alike, and a current issues campaign team who are always seeking to further educate and inform the public about the treatment of animals.
