With the calendar turned to October, are you ready
for the flavors of fall...
Apple,
Pumpkin, Butternut Squash, Caramel, Maple Cranberry
and Pomegranate?
Can't wait
for the heavy rains with thunderstorms at night, dark brown boots
and soft
and cozy trench coat, gold leaves, hot bergamot tea, baked
apple and pumpkin pies, Thanksgiving dinner, leftovers from that great dinner the morning after: — RRB -, crispy wind, rain again.
Apples, pomegranates,
and pumpkins are super-foods in my book,
and cashew flour pie crusts are to die
for!
For a little bit of flavor I add some
apple juice
and vanilla extract to the liquid,
and some
pumpkin pie spice.
For the past couple of weeks I've been daydreaming about
apples and pears, cranberries
and warming spices,
and of course,
pumpkin.
They've also got less oil
and refined sugars, plus the
apple /
pumpkin combo is to - die
for.
With
apples, pears,
and pumpkins ripe
for the picking, fall is the perfect time to whip up a sweet dessert.
For example, when Fall arrived, I was so excited to bake with
pumpkin and apples and cinnamon.
I'm tired of summer food now
and so ready
for all the fall goodies —
pumpkin,
apples, soups
and stews.
Ingredients: 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil 1 yellow onion, roughly chopped 1 3/4 pound butternut squash, peeled, halved, seeded,
and cut into 1 - inch chunks (about 5 cups) 2
apples (like Fuji), halved, cored,
and roughly chopped 4 cups low - sodium chicken broth or veggie stock 1 cup unsweetened almond milk 1 teaspoon

It's Fall Foods Galore this week
for #SundaySupper, so you know what that means —
apples,
pumpkins pears, squash,
and all sorts of comfort food as the air starts to get a little crisp.
Pecan is head
and shoulders above the rest
for me, then
apple, with
pumpkin coming in a distant third.
Because soon we will be wanting to use
apples and pumpkins for seasonal desserts (
and I actually can't wait).
I am pumped
for a season of all things
pumpkin and apple flavored!
Between the covers, there are 105 recipes (85 percent that have never been seen on this site), about two - thirds of them are savory (including a beloved recipe
for featherlight Gnocchi in Tomato Broth, a Flat Roasted Chicken with Tiny Potatoes inspired by something we bought on a Paris street,
and an absolutely hideous but boundlessly delicious Wild Rice Gratin with Kale
and Caramelized Onions)
and the rest are
for sweets things (such as my son's towering second birthday S'More Cake,
and what I consider two of the ultimate Thanksgiving desserts, a Cheesecake - Marbled

Apple Pie you've ever seen).
This subtly sweet
and spicy
pumpkin and apple soup is a must - have
for autumn.
I'm ready
for pumpkin flavored everything,
apple pie
and mashed potatoes.
With a family of six, my mom finds it crazy that year after year we still want both
pumpkin and apple pie
for Thanksgiving dessert (her
apple pie recipe is still the best I've -LSB-...]
I can't wait
for slightly cooler weather, the long yellow rays of autumn light, tours of
apple orchards,
and things like
pumpkins, pears
and roasted root vegetables.
But I started to resolve that this weekend as I picked up over 15 lbs of
apples from a local orchard
and broke open a few cans of
pumpkin for a fall baking fiesta.

for other kinds of pie, such as
apple and cherry.
Fall should never end, if only
