Authors no longer need large sums to pay
for big print runs for their books.

I think it's a fun
print for a v - neck tee
for casual errand
running or hanging around the house, but I was never
big on wearing it much more than that.
Nothing in stores has the classic «suiting» look (I am not looking
for floral, huge
prints, etc)... the few I have found are way too
big on me as I am petite (
run between a size 0 - 2 in pants).
That bad «give it a try with an e-book only» advice comes from the days when
big initial
print runs were mandatory
for print books.
Pre-orders and publisher push (ie, anointing Author A as the next
big thing while Author B is not given the same push) determine
print runs as well as the number of books sold vs. the number
printed for the previous book by that author.
My hunch is that the
biggest revenue generator across the entire load of copyrights that the settlement will liberate
for at least the next ten years will be books
printed in press -
run quantities.
If it wasn't
for the cash outlay, beautiful, we'll do a
big print run right now.
That seems to be the conventional wisdom and has also been my experience with my book (a middle - grades novel to teach kids about 9/11)-- schools account
for a
big part of my sales, which
run about 90/10 in favor of
print.
