Confirmation bias may be a part of it, but we've seen a lot of reviews, particularly on the exclusives side, which seem to get reduced scores
for things which get no mention in other reviews, or get a pass from the same
reviewer when it comes to another
game.
Now if you based all your purchasing on
reviewers than what you need to do is find those you trust, not a site but a
reviewer and when it's not the guy you trust you need to read the pros & cons of the
game and decide from that whether the
game is
for you or not.
It is useful though to have someone play through numerous
games that i would never find time
for and post a review so i can make a informed decision on whether to purchase (assuming i trust the
reviewers opinion).
Oh let's not forget how badly American and Canadian
reviewers panned the
game including IGN and Gamespot
for being a bad shooter.
It could just be that this release of critical products was chosen very careful, so
reviewers might also feel a bit of pressure, it might make them feel more responsible in a way
for the succes of the new console with scoring this one important
game.
Clearly the
reviewer doesn't have much experience with other fps
games or they'd know it's been about
for over three years now.
And ultimately these companies are shooting themselves in the foot, because a divide between

for reviewers, it most likely won't sell well because at the end of the day, money's the thing and if the devs don't make profit out of the
game, then the
game bombed hard.
So there was no way
for reviewers to experience the online mode as we designed it, and they reviewed the
game based mostly on the single - player story mode.
