The other ingredient
for a
high conflict divorce is the narcissist's counterpart — a
person who works
for equality in relationships.
The majority of
high conflict families include at least one
person with a personality disorder, which taxes the skills
for a divorce practitioner attempting client engagement.
Although going through divorce often brings out the worst side of a
person's personality, if you are married to someone with a
high conflict personality, even small things you are trying to negotiate about can quickly escalate into an on - going struggle
for power and control.
For all of these reasons, communicating with a
high conflict person can be challenging.
One recent study of 280 cohabiting individuals found that
people's primary reasons
for living together mattered

high conflict spouse will blame you
for all of his / her problems, the truth is that s / he experiences a lot of
conflict with a lot of other
people, too.
A
high conflict person does not take responsibility
for his / her part in any
conflict or misunderstanding.
Use your divorce as an opportunity to learn better techniques
for handling, not just your ex, but all
high conflict people.
High conflict people are known
for talking endlessly.
Without us,
people who are struggling to resolve divorce, co-parenting, elder care, and other internal family

for getting involved with an adversarial legal system that will exacerbate and intensify
conflicts.
In fact, it is wise not to become too close to a
high conflict person, so that you don't raise their expectations of you becoming responsible
for their welfare or planning to spend more time together than you intend.
