According to some of Canada's top luxury real estate agents, the wealthy are looking
for value in their new home —
properties that are in good locations, in close proximity to work and
local schools.
Not only is the
property assessed
for value, it is thoroughly vetted
for safety, soundness of construction and adherence to
local code restrictions.

for those whose priorities include the Welfare State, workers» rights, trade unionism, the co-operative movement, consumer protection, strong communities, conservation rather than environmentalism, fair taxation, full employment, public ownership, proper
local government, a powerful Parliament, the monarchy, the organic Constitution, national sovereignty, civil liberties, the Union, the Commonwealth, the countryside, grammar schools, traditional moral and social
values, economic patriotism, balanced migration, a realist foreign policy, and a base of real
property for every household to resist both over-mighty commercial interests and an over-mighty State.

More than a quarter of real
property value across the state is exempt from county and
local property taxes, totaling $ 680 billion — a cost that carries a burden

property tax of 86 cents
for every $ 100 in
property value to receive state funds.
Ironically, the federal dollars arrived before the recession - induced fiscal crunch hit
local revenues from
local property taxes, as it takes a year or two, sometimes longer,
for depressed
property to be assessed at its new, lower
value.
In Illinois,
for example, a student in the low
property value Berwyn North school district just west of Chicago receives $ 8,588 in combined state and
local education funding whereas a student twenty miles further west in suburban Lisle Community Unit School District 202 receives $ 17,169 in state and
local funding.

We also consider whether the relationship between school performance and citizen ratings is stronger
for parents of school - age children, who are arguably the most connected to their
local schools, or
for homeowners, whose
property values are influenced by school quality.
Property values already are affected by the perception of
