I upped the
maple syrup a bit
more for the crumble and it tasted great, but I don't want to use too much syrup or dates as watching sugar intake.
I would love doing this — is it possible to swap out the
maple syrup
for more date syrup or perhaps blended dates?
For extra sweetness I would added in
more maple syrup, the banana would probably change the consistency of the brownies.
Really sadly I don't think there is a replacement
for the dates as they really stick the whole thing together, it may work to try making them with a little
more sweet potato and a little
more maple syrup but I can't promise anything as I haven't tried it!

I couldn't find sunflower seeds, so just went with the recipe as posted (substituted some of
more expensive ingredients — honey
for maple syrup, different type of date), but will use suggestion of upping oats next time to see how it goes.
Base was fine I just added a little
more maple syrup so it didn't crumble, then I had to add
more water to the dates to get the stuff smooth, all was going ok and at this time i put it in the freezer over night so it would be solid
for dipping in the chocolate — this worked out really well as it helped the chocolate set because they were so cold, but the chocolate...... disaster!
I added subbed honey
for the
maple syrup and added a bit
more to make the brownies and icing to please our sweeter tooth.
