for eliminating flavored milk from

for continuing to offer that

schools: Absent better systemic answers than those offered by ideologues, publicly funded private

schools, whether they are traditional public
schools or
schools of
choice.
In the long run, however, it's better
for choice,
for kids,
for taxpayers, and
for the country's economic vitality and social mobility that we
continue to insist: No
school, public or private, is a good
school unless its students are learning what they should.

School Choice Goes To the Movies
In the category of «private
school choice,» there are now 41 programs in 19 states, plus Washington, DC, and state legislatures are
continuing to introduce bills
for new or expanded programs.
The money is gone, but applications
for state support of new
school facilities
continue to pour in and the panel in charge is facing some difficult
choices.
Charter
Schools Development Corporation (CSDC) has been awarded two government grants totaling nearly $ 6M to
continue its development of expanded
school choice for underserved communities.
Fuller
continues today to serve as a major spokesperson
for school choice and is currently on several boards, including the Milwaukee Region Teach
for America.
And public
schools are offering these
choices while
continuing to assure all students receive the foundation of knowledge and skills that prepares them
for success after high
school, regardless of their personal goals.

School Choice, Mom - Shaming, and My Conversation With a Genius
In February, the Chamber of Commerce proposed a plan that would
continue integration through public
school choice, an idea which has become a blueprint
for the
school district.
The
continuing three - year partnership, funded by the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, exposes the challenges of
school choice for DC families, shows the positive impact of the HQSC, and offers numerous lessons
for community - based organizations and district leaders.
Moreover, in practice, the «
choice» program has been plagued by lack of accountability (no state testing requirements), fraud (private operators taking off with the state aid check, leaving the kids without a
school to go to, and MPS to try to deal with it), refusal to accept handicapped children,
continued leeching off public
schools for lab courses, and — most significantly — absolutely no educational advantage whatsoever
for the «
choice» students compared to their public
school counterparts, which was the ostensible justification
for this whole fiasco in the first place.
