I read on this blog that you said the best substitute for arrowroot is coconut flour but what would be a good substitute
for the tapioca flour based on taste, texture and consistency?
Since I am gluten and mostly grain - free, I come across a lot of recipes
calling for tapioca starch.
For other cook's reference, I got great results swapping out the hemp hearts for ground flax seed I had on hand and arrowroot
powder for the tapioca flour.
Combine all caramel ingredients,
except for tapioca / arrowroot, in a small or medium saucepan on the stove on med - low.
Is there a way to sub coconut flour
for the tapioca by adjusting the ratios of the coconut flour to liquid.
The recipe
calls for tapioca starch but you should be able to use any starch (arrowroot powder, cornstarch, potato starch, or tapioca starch).
After making these several times and not wanting to give this recipe up because it's perfect, I am in need of a substitute
for tapioca now because I have developed a severe allergy to it (sadly).
In the past, I've
reached for tapioca starch / flour as a match for it as I did in these soft Paleo flour tortillas, in my beloved coconut flour pancakes which are so good and amazingly so fluffy, and in my almond flour muffins and almond flour cookies.
I was planning to go to barrio chino to

oats for tapioca in this would work to keep it gluten free?
I just made this recipe by subbing the
arowroot for tapioca flour (because that was all I had on hand) and it came out great.
Now, you could sub out any gluten free flour
blend for the tapioca flour, but, in experimenting, I found that tapioca flour seems to add a bit chewier texture to these cookies.
The recipe
calls for tapioca flour as the main ingredient, which I can find in my local Kroger grocery store, but if you can't find it there, Amazon is always a great option!
