It explains how the earth
formed four billion years ago
out of a vast
cloud of gas and dust.
It floods the nebula with ultraviolet light and blows
out a mighty solar wind that's compressing the gas around it,
forming the bubble shape
of the overall
cloud.
Planetary nebulae, which got their name after being misidentified by early astronomers, are
formed when an ageing star weighing up to eight times the mass
of the sun ejects its outer layers as
clouds of luminous gas (see Why stars go
out in a blaze
of glory).
Out of the primordial hydrogen and helium created in the Big Bang,
clouds coalesced within 100 million years, eventually
forming the first stars.
That frozen vapor quickly
forms ice crystals that drop
out of the
cloud as snow.
During the wintertime cold, nitric acid and water condense
out of the atmosphere and
form wispy
clouds.
These arcs, on the other hand,
form when light hits the top
of ice crystals — like those contained in some kinds
of clouds — and is then refracted
out through the side
of the crystals.
«Precipitation depends on ice; it's very sensitive to ice in a
cloud, so figuring
out what
forms ice [in
clouds] is sort
of the holy grail
of the measurements we've been trying to do, and it's a very chemically selective process,» Prather said at the ACS meeting yesterday afternoon.
The nebula was created by the star, which is losing part
of its mass
out into the surrounding space,
forming a
cloud of gas and dust as the material cools.
Scientists figured
out more than a decade ago how to make this specialized
form of light through a process known as «high harmonic generation,» or HHG, which shifts laser light to much shorter wavelengths and shorter pulses by shining it through a
cloud of gas.
Some astronomers have suggested that they
formed suddenly
out of collapsing gas
clouds, but most suspect that the supermassive black holes grew after their initial formation.
The mountains are made primarily
of rock - hard water ice; the dunes are most likely ice granules coated with hydrocarbons; volcanoes probably belch methane and ammonia, and methane fills the lakes, evaporates to
form clouds, and rains back down to carve
out river channels.
The cosmos as we know it started to take shape when atoms and ions paired up to
form molecular hydrogen, which expelled heat
out of the gas
clouds, allowing them to cool down enough to
form the first stars.
But interactions with the newly
formed giant planets ejected many
of those comets into interstellar space, flung others
out into what would become the Oort
Cloud, and knocked some into elongated, somewhat shorter orbits in what is known as the scattered disk.
The outer shock
forming behind this flattened
cloud could then quickly blow
out the tenuous poles because relatively little matter would stand in the way — like a strong gust
of wind blowing
out a weak spot in a sail.
Our sun
formed about five billion years ago
out of such a
cloud.
The carbon atoms that are essential to life on Earth were forged in the nuclear furnaces
of stars that lived and died in an earlier epoch
of the Universe, and which seeded the
clouds out of which our own Sun and the Solar System were
formed.
Martian air contains only about 1/1, 000 as much water as our air, but even this small amount can condense
out,
forming clouds that ride high in the atmosphere or swirl around the slopes
of towering volcanoes.
When its temperature drops below the condensation temperature
of a condensable gas, that gas condenses
out and
forms clouds, just like water on Earth.
These observations rule
out stars, antimatter, dark
clouds or any
form of normal matter.

forming from gravitationally collapsing gas
clouds.
Comets and comet
clouds form early in the life span
of a solar system, and are primarily composed
of frozen gases, rocks and dust, coalescing
out of clouds of smaller particles into the cosmic bodies with trademark tails we're familiar with.

out the outside world when I run, but this time, let into the moment
of jogging down the street, I began to see a new vision: crisp air caused a puffy
cloud to
form with each exhale, and with the drifting leaves on the sidewalk, I began to perceive the beautiful birds sweeping through the city, people - watching from the trees.

Extremities jut
out of twisting
forms like the dust
clouds engulfing brawls in old cartoons.
Subtracting paint by rubbing
out areas using a turpentine - laden cloth and then adding back paint became an important technical element, creating
cloud - like areas and voluminous
forms, like the orange area in the bottom left corner

Since then I've seen that Motherwell sometimes has done these paper collages that remind me

CO2 is
of course particulary insidious as it stays clear, it doesn't condense
out forming reflective
clouds as H2O does.
When it reaches a level high enough to cool it to it's «dew point» the water vapour condenses

form of clouds and rainfall and the Latent Heat
of Condensation is released into the upper part
of the atmosphere to accelerate the escape
of radiant energy to space.
[Obviously, if they were any further away, or if the random supernovas blew up too early to become part
of the solar system's dust
cloud, or were traveling too fast to be captured by what would become part
of the solar system's dust
cloud, or were thrown
out too slow to get here in time, or were
formed but were inside another star gravity field and never thrown back into space, even more dust would be lost in space, but let's keep the problem easy.
Clouds are negative feedback driven nucleation points — when daytime
clouds start to
form the albedo causes further cooling beneath them and heat - engine thunderstorms
form from the updrafts
of warm wet air lofted up to the stratosphere to efficiently cool and spread, creating a local convective cell that pulls heat
out of the ocean (or the moist land or air) and moves it to a cold reservoir.
It turns
out that these models were incorrectly simulating water vapor being drawn up to higher levels
of the atmosphere to
form clouds in a warmer world.
When this happens, moisture to condenses
out of the air and
forms the wispy
clouds.
As the water pressure decreased with depth, the carbon dioxide «fizzed»
out of solution,
forming an ever - increasing
cloud of bubbles which entrained rising lake water.
As these cumulus convective
clouds grow taller,
cloud water droplets collide and combine into raindrops and fall
out of the
cloud or continue to rise until they freeze into ice crystals and
form cirrus
clouds.
When H2O concentration gets high enough, water condenses
out,
forming clouds, which block / reflect sunlight (this is NEGATIVE feedback) reducing the temperature
of the earth.
It turns
out that
clouds are
formed with a considerable amount
of puffery....
