Her work in the
foster care system is truly revolutionary, but these skills can be applied to adoption,
children in general, and adults wanting to improve on their
feelings of insecurity in the world.
Supporting
children with ADHD to
feel connected to school and develop positive relationships is a key protective factor that
fosters resilience.
Educators who
feel confident they have the knowledge and experience to
foster children's social and emotional skills are better placed to make curriculum decisions that support
children's learning and development, and ultimately, their mental health.
For example, grandparents who
feel highly negative regarding their middle - aged
children may in turn
foster feelings of negativity between their middle - aged
children and their grandchildren.
In these cases, families can support
children to process their
feelings of grief and loss and look for opportunities to connect with and
foster other friendships.
And it's one of the things that if you can promote that from the beginning of a
child's contact in that early childhood setting, it's going to really
foster a
child's
feeling of being secure, and being cared for, and providing them with that foundation for growth.
Children often
feel connected to former
foster parents and biological parents, which may bear on their ability to connect to current caregivers.
