found guilty.I further think this new election of Pope will allow the
Church to change it's stance on the very controvertial issues the
Church is facing ie.female priests being one, the decisions appearing more acceptable
coming from a new head as opposed
to reversed stance of standing Pope.This decision
to retire, in the
Churchs» view I believe is damage control and not neccessarily Pope Benedict's desire.If looked at for what it is - A very slick maneuver indeed.
Maybe you could bring in Christians from another
church tradition or from the other side of the world
to come and
find fault with how your
church is accomplishing (or not accomplishing) your mission.

The teaching that men are
to be the «spiritual leaders» of their homes is
found nowhere in Scripture, and yet I — along with far too many young evangelical women — spent hours upon hours fretting over this in college, worrying I'd never
find a guy who was more knowledgeable about the Bible than I, who was always more emotionally connected
to God than I, who was better at leading in the
church than I, and who consistently exhibited more faithfulness and wisdom than I. (In fact, under this paradigm, I
came to see many of my gifts as liabilities, impediments
to settling down with a good «spiritual leader»!)
Why then is it so hard and almost never
coming for those who sit in a hierarchy that Jesus never established (Luke 22:24 - 26) and who also set up «litmus tests» for excommunicating «heretics» (subtly administered in the following way»... maybe it would be better if you would
find yourself a
church that believes more like you do...»)
to repent and change the order of their
churches?
I was reminded of just how different our experiences can be after I
came home from a day with the family
to find in my Google Reader a lovely, celebratory post from Sarah Bessey, «In which God has restored me
to church,» as well as an honest reminder from Kathy Escobar, «When Easter is Hard.»
I challeng you
to find a
church that even
comes close
to that, there is somthing going on here in so cal that only GOD make happen.
I've
found my people without the striving and organizing, without the Official Sanctioned
Church Programs, nope, we just all
came into each other's lives, right at the time when we were meant
to be there, we stayed open
to finding each other, a part of me was always watching for the hints of my people, and so when I
found them, I recognised them, I did.
I recommend reading it, and then going out and
finding an Atheist or two
to come visit your
church and tell you what he or she thinks.
We offer groups for every other category of life, but when it
comes to singles — if you're past college, there's a good chance you're out of luck when it
comes to finding a group
to connect with at your local
church.
But I still
find it difficult
to feel the entirety of God's delight because I know that this calling
comes with the mixed reviews of God's

Given the links that the
church's current leaders had with the KGB, one can understand why the patriarchate's policymakers are
finding it difficult
to come to terms with the
church's activities during the Soviet period.
He has an awesome position but when I remember Jesus Christ's promises
