As a lactose intolerant person, I have
found kale and spinach to be the best option for calcium.

and now Phillip
and his son Matt grow 164 acres of greens (mostly
spinach, collards
and kale), herbs, beets
and flowers —
and a single acre of horseradish.
I changed the chickpeas to butter beans, the
spinach to regular
kale, (can never
find the baby kind, where I live)
and threw in the chopped up tops of some bell peppers leftover from another recipe.

And to those who are nervous about
kale: I actually
find it very sweet (like
spinach) when cooked with other sweet vegetables (like zucchini, sweet potatoes).
Back at home
and a little ways from a Chinese supermarket where I could pick up water
spinach or Chinese broccoli (which you'll also often
find paired with lap cheong), I've taken to making this with other hardy leafy substitutes
and found that ribboned
kale works beautifully, tender when steamed but with a nice bite.
There are many great things to eat that have been
found to help increase milk supply such as leafy greens (
spinach,
kale), alfalfa, kiwi, green peppers, avocado, parsley,
and spirulina.
In the meantime, there are some foods like strawberries, granola, oatmeal (steel cut not the instant), asparagus, dark leafy greens (
kale,
spinach, mustard greens, green peppers,
and kiwi, that have been
found to increase supply.
While you may
find spinach and kale to be a bit pungent or bitter, so we recommend trying it with some apple cider vinegar (another fantastic health food) or blend them into a smoothie.
Iron, which is best
found in red meat like beef, bison, liver,
and lamb; dark leafy greens like
kale, collards,
and spinach; lentils; black beans;
and dark chocolate.
When choosing fruit
and vegies to munch on in times of sickness, vitamin C is generally the go - to hero of the vitamin world
and can be

Lately, I've
found that drinking filtered water (to remove toxins like chlorine

and eating a combination of raw
kale greens, raw

and L - DOPA mucuna gives me a HUGE boot to my dopamine levels, making me feel optimistic

Green Smoothie ingredients in my freezer: previously fresh bag of
spinach or
kale from which I remove handfuls
and stuff in the blender; flax seeds; unpeeled lemons quartered
and tossed in a ziploc bag (much easier than juicing
and freezing cubes, etc.); bag of mixed berries (I
find if I put those in the blender first I'm not dealing with raspberry seeds in my teeth); peeled bananas tossed in a ziploc bag.
