Britain's first black Tory peer was found guilty of
fraudulently claiming # 11,277 in parliamentary
expenses by a jury at Southwark Crown Court, which found him guilty by an 11 - 1 majority verdict.
«If he was, for example, submitting
expense claims and he legitimately believed that he was entitled to be reimbursed, it wouldn't be fraud, because he wouldn't be acting
fraudulently,» says Michael Spratt, a criminal defence lawyer.
