A new bill would provide
free credit freezes for consumers, but it also includes victories for the industry
In response to the Equifax breach that exposed personal information for more than 145 million Americans, the bill would require
free credit freezes for all consumers affected by data breaches.

U.S. PIRG research shows that with just eight states requiring
credit freezes to be offered
for free, it would cost a collective $ 4.1 billion
