Those who
do plan on
formula feeding often times opt to sign up for
free samples from the
formula companies themselves or get some from the doctor / hospital.
If optioning for plastic, BPA -
free if the way to go, as it doesn't have any by - products that will leach into the
formula and harm your baby.
My point is: Until we have overall policies that will ensure every mom is able to take plenty of maternity leave, pump as needed, etc., etc., I don't think I really want to see
free formula taken away entirely.
Occasionally I
do feel pressured by parents struggling to make ends meet to diagnose a CMPI or reflux so the kid can get
free milk, but rather that than having a family with a sick baby struggling to find money to feed themselves and the baby who needs an expensive hydrolysed

My OBGYNs office didn't provide me with any guidance on whether to breastfeed or offer my child
formula but they
did give me
free samples of
formula.
Many infant
formulas that claim to be milk
free do in fact have derivatives of milk in them.
A lot of cloth diapering parents start (and end) with Tide, either classic
formula or
Free and Gentle — it's a good detergent, and works well in many situations, but it doesn't always
do the job for everyone.
However, I wound up with so many
free samples that, even with regular supplementing for a month or so and occasionally after that, I didn't pay for
formula until my son was about 4 months old.
I / my agency, organization, business is in compliance with the WHO Code in that I / we
do not promote infant
formula, accept
free formula samples, provide
formula company pamphlets / DVDs, or other materials (i.e., prescription pads, notepads, etc. with
formula company names / logos) to mothers, or have words or pictures idealizing
