I often get jealous
of the people who «strike it rich» with book deals and conference invitations, who get the
parties and the fame because they were bad but now they found Jesus, but then I look back over my
life, at how far Jesus and I have walked together, what we have been through together, and how we have suffered, and grieved, and rejoiced, and laughed together, and I realize that no book deal, bank account, or applause
from men could ever substitute for what I have with Jesus.

But because several
of the Democratic candidate's policy positions are so manifestly incompatible with Christian reverence for the

from either - or And teaches us to be patient and long suffering And is willing to wait for insight and integration And keeps us
from dualistic thinking And does not divide the field
of the moment And helps us to
live in the always imperfect now And keeps us inclusive and compassionate toward everything And demands that our contemplation become action And insists that our action is also contemplative And heals our racism, our sexism, heterosexism, and our classism And keeps us
from the false choice
of liberal or conservative And allows us to critique both sides
of things And allows us to enjoy both sides
of things And is far beyond any one nation or political
party And helps us face and accept our own dark side And allows us to ask for forgiveness and to apologize And is the mystery
of paradox in all things And is the way
of mercy And makes daily, practical love possible And does not trust love if it is not also justice And does not trust justice if it is not also love And is far beyond my religion versus your religion And allows us to be both distinct and yet united And is the very Mystery

As Christians, we are reminded today that our ultimate allegiance belongs not to a political
party or even a country, but to the Kingdom
of God, where the first is last and the last is first, where the peacemakers and the poor are blessed, where enemies are forgiven and slaves are set free, where our King washes feet, where abundant
life grows
from a tiny seed into a tree — not by power or might but by the Spirit.
The point
of this parable, as well as many
of the other parables by Jesus, is to show humanity how badly we have misunderstood God and what God is doing in this world, and that God is not out to destroy us, slaughter us, or punish us, but is seeking to bring us back into His family, to rescue us
from the pigsty we find ourselves
living in, and to throw us a
party when we are reconciled to Him.

Members
from all political
parties gathered in the House
of Commons earlier this week to debate harassment in public
life.
«At the top
of the Conservative
party, the narrow vote in favour
of leaving the EU has now been interpreted as the pretext for a drastic cutting
of ties with Europe, which would have dire economic results - and as an excuse for the most toxic rhetoric on immigration we have seen
from any government in
living memory,» the statement reads.
«I have a
live and current understanding and experience
of the changes in the
party, both
from the two leadership elections and the general election where I was out on the doorstep with all
of these new members,» says McKeever, who missed out on the Commons by just 1159 votes.
