Hello Kate... my husband returned from the doctor today and she suggested he start following the low Fodmap diet.
This is because almonds contain both fructans and GOS — they are allowed on the low FODMAP diet in a 10 almond limit... BUT when you make almond milk you add LOTS of almonds — then add water — and the fructans and GOS (which are water - soluble) can leach from the almonds right into the milk... then into your intestine.....
