from Sonic Generations being a solid Sonic Game and worth having a go, the collectors edition is just really nice to have!
It resembles his gameplay
from Sonic Generations very closely except keen - eyed viewers have noticed his move - set may have been expanded to include the drop - dash from Sonic Mania.
In lieu of the missing Sonic the Hedgehog, a brand - new Avatar (which you create) joins the fray to fight back, and in the meantime, Classic Sonic (
from Sonic Generations and more recently Sonic Mania), assists on the sidelines with Tails.
The big change here is that you get to create your own character to use on certain worlds when not using Sonic or his younger version returning
from Sonic generations.
So ya, all the classic stages
from Sonic Generations are likely to be in Forces, what the heck right?
I put in some time playing Sonic Mania at E3 2017, and I have to say — despite the bad feelings from Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and mixed feelings
from Sonic Generations, I am about as on board as I can be with this game.
His familiar loveable form
from Sonic Generations has made a return and, even though he doesn't speak throughout the game, his interactions with Tails, Eggman and the other characters are quite brilliant at times.
Not exact matches
But the game gives you some nice trade - offs, in return you get superb graphics, great platforming, and lots of speed (not as fast as the Classic
Sonic from Generations though)!
It's stupid to compare
Sonic Forces to the likes of
Sonic 2006, Lost World or the
Sonic Boom games, but if you want a gauge of where
Sonic Forces sits, in terms of gameplay and style its closer to
Sonic Generations and
Sonic Colors — where 3D gameplay follows
Sonic from behind, along strict pathways and side scrolling gameplay features 2.5 D visuals.

from # 10 to # 21.
In the end,
Sonic Generations is not the worst
Sonic game I've played, but it's far
from the best either.
Classic
Sonic also makes his return
from Generations, and his gameplay remains mostly unchanged.

SEGA even made sure to show us that both were being made by good developers in the trailers, however I found kinda funny that in relation to
Sonic 2017 they said

Sonic Generations but no mention of the more recent
Sonic Lost World, which was
from the same developer.
It will be for all the people who have been loving
Sonic games
from Sonic Adventure up through Colors,
Generations, and the current
Sonic fans.
2011's
Sonic Generations made a massive leap in the right direction, using a hefty dose of nostalgia in re-imagining classic levels
from the better entries in the series in both 2D classic
Sonic style and some actually brilliant 3D levels, each with style specific
Sonic designs, one short and chubby, the other lanky with those green eyes!
Pre-Christmas price cuts for
Sonic Generations have also helped Sega's platformer with the blue blur dashing up
from # 19 to # 15.

Admire them for always trying something new (going
from pretty much universally liked
Generations to trying to reinvent 3D
Sonic again with Lost World is commendable despite how wonky that game turned out) but whatever they do new just rarely sticks.
I hope they are further able to blend what works
from Sonic Lost World into what we have seen in
Sonic Generations.
Classic
Sonic, who has been ret - conned to coming
from a different dimension in this game, also plays pretty much the same as in
Generations.
The new
Sonic title, reminiscent of
Sonic Generations, once again incorporates the fast - paced action of modern
Sonic with the platforming classic
Sonic from the 90's.
It would've been great if we would've gotten a game based off Classic
Sonic from Generations for his 25th called
Sonic the Hedgehog 4.

In celebration of the 20 year anniversary of Sega's speedy blue mascot,
Sonic the Hedgehog will blaze onto consoles later this year in
