I haven't had much experience with other charter schools in New Orleans, but since I've started attending Bard Early College, a half day program that allows high school juniors and seniors to take college - level courses, I have been around kids who come
from different charter schools.
Not exact matches
The poll cited seven
different possible rationales for rejecting Cuomo: the Moreland Commission scandal, cuts in
school aid, tax cuts, his alliance with a «shadowy» group called the Committee to Save New York, his donations
from Republicans including the Koch Brothers and Ken Langone, his support for

different from other families.
We wanted to know, for instance, how Minnesota, the state that passed the nation's first
charter school law in 1991, is
different from Maryland, which passed the most recent enabling legislation in 2003.
Such students make
different choices not because of unmeasured characteristics, but because of a factor out of their control: the distance
from home to the nearest
charter school.
Public
school teachers who teach in their areas of certification earn a substantial wage premium, 9 percent, compared with a premium that is not meaningfully
different from zero for
charter teachers and a 2 percent premium for private
school teachers.
To exacerbate the issue, pre-k funding in California comes
from a
different funding stream than K — 12, so the state bureaucracy does not consider pre-K a part of the
charter school, but a separate program.
We can not confidently extrapolate the results to very
different charter schools, students
from very
different backgrounds, or students who enter in atypical grades.
Blackstone is an ideal
school for answering a key question: do
charters that serve a socioeconomic mix of students look and feel
different from charters that target only low - income students?
That path is a limited replication of No Excuses
schools that rely on a very unusual labor pool (young, often work 60 + hours per week, often
from top universities); the creation of many more
charters that, on average, aren't
different in performance
from district
schools; districts adopting «lite» versions of No Excuses models while pruning small numbers of very low performing teachers; and some amount of shift to online learning.
Of the many arguments for
charter schools, one is crucial: that
charters should be deliberately, thoughtfully, boldly
different from existing mainline public middle and high
schools.

More
charter schools might allow for more innovation — including longer
school days and
different styles of teaching — because
charters are exempt
from many regulations.
That finding corroborates the disappointing results
from Stanford University's Center for Research on Education Outcomes (CREDO) 2015 analysis of virtual
charter schools nationwide, which used a slightly
different analytical approach.
But it's impossible to look at the best
charter networks up close and not see that their DNA is dramatically
different from that of a traditional
school system.
Are
charter schools similar to or
different from other public
schools, and in what ways?
They explain that the challenges for researchers are that the
school effect must be disaggregated
from family background, and that their methods must account for «selection bias» — the likelihood that children whose parents choose a
charter school are already
different from those whose parents do not.
Another factor that likely explains Florida's
different scenario is the repeated claim by state education leaders, newspapers, and some members of the public that many
charter schools in the state are engaged in profiteering and private enrichment, with support
from powerful political allies in the state legislature and governor's office.
On the first two «costs» the book provides no evidence of harm, other than summary statements about segregation, expressing concern that «education programs that serve low - income and minority students have become quite
different from those that serve the rest of the student population,» (p. 225) and that «
charter schools have moved the country farther away
from the collective and democratic forms of education.»
These
schools appear in smaller clusters or stand alone as
different from most
charter schools.
Known as the CREDO study, it evaluated student progress on math tests in half the nation's five thousand
charter schools and concluded that 17 percent were superior to a matched traditional public
school; 37 percent were worse than the public
school; and the remaining 46 percent had academic gains no
different from that of a similar public
school.
The idea — professional development summits organized in
different parts of Nigeria and taught by experienced teachers
from around the world — stemmed
from Enechi's own experience as a new teacher at Brooke
Charter School in the Mattapan section of Boston, where new teachers prepare for their own classrooms by spending one year learning
from experienced educators.

charter schools is quite
different from traditional public

On the other hand, the observational estimates for
charter schools that contribute to the lottery study are larger than the observational estimates for other
charter schools (though the latter are still positive and significantly
different from 0).
