readers for desktop computers, not to mention countless cheap eBook
readers from China.
The price drop
from $ 489 to $ 379 (with the Kindle DX 2) and the new
eInk Pearl screen led to a tripling of sales (which are probably still low) and the Kindle DX WiFi would appeal to far more
readers.
We received quite a few replies
from readers but one of the more interesting ones said they'd like to have apps like Flipboard, Zite and Pulse on their
eInk device.
What they were thinking in part is explained everywhere for years and in this review: reading a book on a tablet LCD display ranges
from hard to impossible (in bight, such as outside, light)-- whereas reading an ebook
reader eInk display is easy even in bright light.
It will be interested to know where exactly the
eInk based
readers are heading, since it looks like the customer interest might migrate
from dedicated eReaders to thin tablets based on color LCD / OLED screens.
