Fading a
breakout means selling into the
breakout and expecting it to be
false and return either back into a sideways trend or peak and decline
from that point as all the buyers that were going to buy a stock are done.
You would fade a
breakout if you believe that a
breakout from a support or resistance level is
false and unable to keep moving in the same direction.
It's a big step forward to stay out of price traps or
false breakouts, but understanding them will allow you to change them
from a negative trading experience into a positive.
