from galactosemia, a rare genetic disease, can suffer serious harm by consuming lactose.
There are only a few indications for the use of soy - based formula milk such as infants suffering
from galactosemia or rare condition characterized by hereditary deficiency of lactase and in situations where parents prefer a vegetarian diet for their baby.

It seemed as if Naomi was not suffering
from classic
galactosemia because she appeared to be healthy and thriving.
Babies with
galactosemia have a severe deficiency of GALT and have no other option but to eliminate all forms of lactose
from the diet, including breastmilk.
