Part 1: Listening we present the Aspirations Framework that has emerged
from listening to students.

Having the flexibility
to listen to and incorporate leadership
from faculty not only improves the quality of the faculty's experience, it makes things better for
students too.

to speak and pray with the people we met, we put into practice what we learnt
from the great Catechism of the Catholic Church and various encyclicals on mission and love:
to listen and
to love.
There was never any real trouble
from the dean of
students, a former Protestant, who reportedly
listened to my lectures through the wall of his room with a stethoscope.
Be attentive
to the
students, teachers, staff and class - mates who may be very different
from you;
listen for God in all of them, even if you don't think you're going
to find God there.
For the next few years, I was engaged mostly with parenting: working
to develop the cooperative spirit and patterns so necessary for a department of 20 specialists if we were
to listen to and learn
from each other in such a way that we could train graduate
students together rather than at cross-purposes.

I myself have a «what if...» moment I hope
to implement next year

student tech club.»
And that learning comes
from observing
student work,
listening to the feedback I get
from architects, and if the quality of
student work isn't quite at the level at which I think it could be, then I have
to ask myself, what can I change?
For example, during the unit he teaches on the U.S. Constitution, he gives his
students a choice of reading or
listening to an audio recording
from the textbook, watching an explanation that he has prerecorded, viewing a video on BrainPop.com, or
listening to a musical explanation of the Constitution on Flocabulary.com.
One example is
students watching videos,

to make comparisons between social injustices
from the past and forms of bullying that occur in today's schools and communities.
For example, we would not expect a
student who receives a low score
from a teacher on October 14 for the ability
to listen to and follow teacher directions
to receive a high score

Using the Great Depression example,
students must read a historical fiction book set in the time period, research the Dust Bowl and its impact on crops, and
listen to a song
from the 1930s that encapsulates the mood of the historical period.
Once
students earn 50 stars, they may choose
from the following rewards: a homework pass, sitting in the beanbag chair during class,
listening to music as they work, a class period in the library for independent study, or a food item (candy or chips).

The first slide is a starter activity
to make the
students reflect on their knowledge of verbs and phrases
from a
listening activity completed during the previous lesson.
Some
students in your class can
listen to audio
from NPR while others dive into articles
from the Wilson Center — a great opportunity
to differentiate.
An appreciative audience of family members, friends,
students and colleagues were alternately roaring with laughter and fighting back tears, as they

students, no matter what their grade level, can benefit
from reading or
listening to poems.
Strong relationships with teenagers in the classroom helps
to build their confidence
to tackle new learning.Trusting relationships come
from genuinely
listening to students and considering their voice and contribution / responses
to classroom discussion.
