And indeed, mysticism —
which I would define as practices intended to help connect a person to God through experience, intuition, contemplation, the devotional reading of
Scripture, ritual, and prayer — has been a part of the Church
from the very beginning.
It had the text of
Scripture,
which was a loose translation (almost a paraphrase)
from the Hebrew into Aramaic, and just like our study Bibles, it had explanatory notes that went along with the text.

SCRIPTURES» there «REMAINS», NO «Sabbath Day's - rest for the People of God».
If for you your faith is only about «worshiping» the words in a book (
which are written by man)... think about it... you might be wasting your time and not realize how distant you actually have become (
from the true msg) worrying about trivialities or needing to reconcile
scripture with science / common sense... simply because your book (and your self - imposed obligation to believe in the words) doesn't leave you another option.
The phrase «Inspiration of
Scripture» comes primarily
from 2 Timothy 3:16
which says «All
Scripture is given by inspiration of God...»
This approach to
scripture even inspired me to start a Bible study in
which we are studying the harmony of the Gospels
from the standpoint of how Jesus offered himself in relationship to broken people He came in contact with.
What makes common sense to me is that this is coming
from the same volume of
scripture that has within it revelations
from the past present and future
from the time in
which the events that were written about took place.
One way to begin to free ourselves
from the bondage of power that we put on others and put upon ourselves is to unravel the theology and
Scripture texts
which have been used to support our claim to power and authority.
Far
from cherry - picking, this is how
Scripture is SUPPOSED to be read: IN context, NOT taking the line «this generation shall not pass» OUT of the context in
which He was speaking,
which is what you are doing, and, as noted, is a common error.
It provides a totally new perspective
from which black people can view themselves, others,
Scripture, church, tradition and reason.
You might want to read some of the (even older)
scriptures from Hinduism or Buddhism (and others)
which say many similar things.

from this; who is Jesus; what are the sources and the warrants of these characterizations of Jesus and of God (
scripture, tradition, history of doctrine); what understanding of these sources makes them not only sources but also authoritative for these understandings of God and Jesus?
All of the stories
from all of Man's
scriptures are fully accounted for, and so revolutionarily superseded, by Pandeism,
which demonstrates the logical probability of all of these nonuniversal propostions as simply reflecting the miscomprehensions of the limited human mind in attempting to grasp an ultimate underlying reality.
It has taken me a number of years and an equal number of attempts to try and look beyond the behavior of the «Christians» in church, to realize that a church unreflective of God's word, cherry picking
which scripture to apply and whom it applies to, is NOT what God desires
from his children.
I love the Greg has stuck with a high view of
Scripture and biblical infallibility (
which is related to, but distinct
from, inerrancy).
But there is a strength and forthrightness about the Gathas
which sets them apart
from the later
scriptures,
which preserve chiefly the rituals of the faith of a later day.
