wildlife mortalities — recently discovered that out of 300 bald eagles tested in New York state, 17 percent had lead levels high enough to cause death
from lead poisoning.
The scholarship, currently valued at $ 500, is open to students
from any track with a demonstrated interest in
wildlife, zoological, and / or aquatic animal
medicine.
However, by definition, some animals — such as farmed animals, fish or
wildlife — may be excluded
from anti-cruelty statutes, and some actors — such as farmers engaged in common husbandry practices, veterinarians practicing
medicine or research facilities engaged in experiments — may be exempted
from the statutes.
