Airlines have complete discretion when it comes to fixing
fuel surcharges so before you shop using your frequent flyer miles, you need to research widely so as to determine the cost of surcharges, fees and taxes that you might have to pay.
Since it's such a short leg, it didn't add much distance to the trip nor did it add any significant
fuel surcharges so essentially I have a one - way trip with 3 stopovers!

fuel surcharges, but they also have pretty flexible routing rules
so you can still find some good deals there (in the US, UnitedMiles never charge
fuel surcharges).
Remember that LifeMiles also does not charge
fuel surcharges,
so taxes / fees are reasonable.
BA also imposes major
fuel surcharges on long haul flights,
so the cash required will be significant.
In addition, LifeMiles doesn't charge
fuel surcharges on any airlines,
so taxes and fees are very reasonable.
Alaska generally doesn't add

so you don't have to worry about that.

From time to time I'm going to refer to fees called «

surcharges» when I'm discussing award travel in a blog,
so I thought it would be useful to have a brief and super-simple explanation of what they are.

so you can avoid the high passenger duty on business and first class travel.

so is that on identical Iberia - operated flights, you'll be charged lower
fuel surcharges using Avios in an Iberia Plus account than Avios in a British Airways account.
And British, well, it's a fine airline, but they have this funny idea that people are
so dumb, they would think nothing of paying exorbitant amounts of money for the
so - called «
fuel surcharges».
AirBerlin is a member of oneworld and does not charge
fuel surcharges,
so it's great for those with American Airlines miles or British Airways Avios.
They don't impose
fuel surcharges on Delta flights to Hawaii and total fees for Delta flights to other locations like South America can be under $ 100,
so it often depends on where your route.
But Remember Air Berlin and Aer Lingus don't incur
fuel surcharges,
so consider those options.
The real sweet spots are when you fly British Airways partners, because the
fuel surcharges are
so high going to Europe.
While this redemption is among the highest of the airlines on the list, you have to remember that with United you don't have to worry about
fuel surcharges and
so your tickets to Europe will cost next - to - nothing.
As you can see, the
fuel surcharges can be pretty hefty and
so I'd try my best to find availability on a United or Air Canada flight to avoid the charges.
It's a difference of $ 190 USD vs $ 834 USD due to
fuel surcharges,
so always do your best to book with a partner that does not incur
fuel surcharges when booking with Aeroplan.
