According to the BIC values,
the full mediation model yielded a superior fit to the data (BICfull mediation = 5092.61 < BICpartial mediation = 5097.96; Aiken and West, 1991).

In my last post, I promised to explore how the current commercial
mediation model might be «tweaked» to unlock the
full potential of
mediation.
Before the commercial mediators and counsel stop reading and click on the «delete» key, I ask them to consider the possibility that Mr. McMahon isn't making judgments about which method is «right» or «wrong» but, rather, is trying to say that the
full potential and power of
mediation is not being engaged in the commercial
model.
When mediators were included in the
model, the direct paths (ie, path C») from the income - to - needs ratio to the left hippocampus (P >.51) and right hippocampus (P >.55) volumes were no longer significant, indicating
full mediation (Figure 2).
Furthermore, this study aimed to examine whether a
full or a partial
mediation model best fits the data.
The following criteria are necessary for
mediation: (I) the predictor (family functioning) should be significantly associated with the outcome (HbA1c), (II) the predictor should be significantly associated with the mediator (adherence), (III) the mediator should be associated with the outcome variable (with the predictor accounted for), and (IV) lastly, the addition of the mediator to the
full model should reduce the relation between the predictor and criterion variable.
In the final
model (Table V), CBCL externalizing problems did not account for a significant portion of the variance in HbA1c, indicating
full mediation.
